iFriends supports all popular webcam streaming formats, so that iFriends users can experience the world's best models, stars and chathosts in the format they prefer: |
|
| |
iFriends ifCam |
Our pioneering flagship webcam software, and still the most popular choice among iFriends chathosts, ifCam is iFriends' own windows-based software that runs on any Windows PC, including Win95, Win98, WindowsME, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. As lightweight as it is versatile, ifCam works wonderfully even on slower PCs and over slower chathost connections (such as dialup modem). With support for the widest base of users, from dialup users on 14.4 modems to the highest-speed iFriends users, ifCam is especially adept at providing a superb videochat experience for the millions of internet users who are still on slower connections, such as AOL dialup customers and users in other countries. EasyCam (LiveStream)
 |
EasyCam was developed by iFriends as the world's only easy-to-use "download-free" webcam streaming format that requires no third-party
applications to run on your PC. ("Download-Free" means that you don't have to download and install any special software ... it
works from within your web browser!) If you can navigate a web page, or fill out an online form, then you can videochat using
EasyCam. EasyCam is just like the name says: Easy. Even better, EasyCam is the only LiveStream hosting option that works well
even if you're not using a high-speed, high-end PC over a fast internet connection. (In fact, EasyCam is the only iFriends
hosting
option that works reliably from large dialup ISPs, such as AOL and Earthlink/Mindpsring).
Finally, EasyCam is the only iFriends hosting option that supports iFriends' new "Traffic on Tap" feature (released in late 2004).
"Traffic on Tap" (also called 'CatCall') lists your videochat and fanclub not only on iFriends,
but also – at your option –
before millions of users of iFriends-affiliated services such as IncredibleCams.com and SizzlingCams.com.
And like the name says, "Traffic on Tap" lets you turn the feature on and off at the click of your mouse. Easy!

Windows Media (LiveStream) |
More internet users with higher-speed internet connections use Windows Media to enjoy online entertainment than any other format.
Requires that you, as a chathost, to use a moderate to high-speed PC running Windows XP or Windows 2000 PC.
Windows Media-hosted live sessions also offer another advantage: All streaming-based hosting formats (EasyCam, Real Player and Windows Media) offer a "capture video"
feature which enables you to create your own archive movies for use on iFriends and elsewhere. But only WindowsMedia sessions can create archive movies
that can be imported directly to pay-per-view DRM/VOD websites like Pay2Play.com. (for EasyCam and RealPlayer-originated movie archives,
you must first
convert your movie into the Windows Media format, prior to importing to Pay2Play).
To enable iFriends users to enjoy you via Windows Media Player, choose this format. click here for additional information, and instructions. |
|
| |
Real Player (LiveStream) |
While the popularity of RealPlayer is on the wane, user loyalty remains high and many iFriends users prefer it over other streaming formats. To learn more about offering your live videochat in RealPlayer format, click here. |

iFCam: Version 0.96e for Windows 9x, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and Windows XP (Released March 14, 2003, version 0.96e provides these new features. A FAQ is available for ChatHosts upgrading from a previous version.) Tired of just watching? Itching to host your own iFriends videochat room? Welcome to the iFriends Free Download Center! From here, iFriends chathosts can download the latest version (0.96e) of our free ifCam webcam software. To run it, all you need is a connection to the net, a Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000 or XP PC, and an inexpensive PC videocam or webcam. Set-up is as easy as 1-2-3:
Download the ifCam installer. You can now download version 0.96e for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2K/XP (587K). This will copy the installation program to your computer. ifCam is ONLY compatible with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. NOTE: Not all cameras are NT or 2000 compatible!
Run the IFCAM96E.EXE program downloaded in Step 1. The program takes you through a few quick & easy steps, culminating in the installation of ifCam into the "Programs" area of the Windows "Start Menu".
Windows XP Service Pack 2 users only: The first time you use iFCam, the Windows Firewall will advise you it is blocking access to your iFCam and ask you whether you wish it to "keep blocking" or to "unblock" it. As you do want users to connect to your video, be sure to choose "Unblock". Click to view example. If you accidentally chose "Keep Blocking", all is not lost. Just click the Windows "Start" button, choose Control Panel, then "Windows Firewall". When the Firewall settings box appears, click the "Exceptions" tab. You'll see a list of programs, including "IFCAM". Just click the box next to it to add a check mark, hit "OK", and you're all set!
(For iFriends Chathosts Only) If you haven't already, be sure to register a "Video Chathost" screenname on iFriends. (Registration is free, and you need a screenname that others can reference you by). If you are a chatroom visitor, and not a chathost, click here for further information.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: BETA SOFTWARE ("Experimental" software supporting 3D Video): At this time, we are working on an exciting new feature for iFriends... 3D VIDEO! If you'd like to try out a new experimental version of iFCam with support for 3-D VideoChat capability, first review the 3D Hardware Requirements and Instructions, then download iFCam v.96f
For assistance installing or configuring your iFCam, be sure to check out the iFCam Manual. This Microsoft Word document provides support documentation for the iFCam 0.96c and later, and is especially helpful for first-time users of the software.
When you're ready to transmit your live web feed, get online, and start ifCam. It begins transmitting your signal to the internet immediately. (You should see your own cam image in the ifCam window). All that's left is to register your video chatroom on the iFriends Video Chathost Console, and decide how much you want to charge (if anything).
Trouble?: Trouble with your iFriendCam? Try using our intelligent Help Assistant, which will fire off a detailed query to our iFriends support staff. As a last resort, you can also call IFriends Video Chathost Support Line; the phone number is listed in the FAQ. (If the problem is that you lose all your PC's sounds when you try to send audio through IFCam, simply contact or visit the web site of the manufacturer of your sound card to obtain the latest version of the drivers for your sound card, making sure it is for the particular version of Windows you are running. This should fix the problem.)
